My Story

Nicole Coman received her Educational Specialist degree (Ed.S.) in School Psychology from Florida International University in Miami, Florida. Additionally, she also holds a Masters Degree (M.S.Ed) in School Psychology from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Previously, Nicole worked as a School Psychologist in the Cambridge, MA area for several years. She also worked in the Developmental Medicine Center at Boston Children’s Hospital for many years as a clinician and researcher, and prior to moving to Boston, she worked at the University of Miami Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (CARD) for 7 years providing consultations to three separate South Florida school districts and local families. Her work has been published in some of the nation’s top psychology journals such as the Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry and the Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders. Nicole has been practicing as an Educational Psychologist for over a decade. She has also presented her work at conferences both on a national and international level.

Nicole has extensive experience in educational testing and school program evaluations. In our practice, she conducts comprehensive educational assessments, school observations, and provides educational consultation planning services for students and their families across an array of learning differences and neurodevelopmental conditions. Additionally, Nicole performs progress monitoring evaluations for students who may have previously received an evaluation to assess effective progress post targeted interventions being implemented either privately, under the auspices of Individualized Program, or both.

 

Specific Learning Disabilities

Nicole Coman has extensive training and expertise in conducting educational evaluations on individuals with or with suspected learning and language-based learning profiles (e.g., Specific Learning Disorders [Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, impairments in mathematics]. She has been conducting assessments, educational planning and school-based consultations to both families and school districts for several years. Over her career, she has also conducted clinical research as well as supervision of trainees across clinical, hospital and school-based settings for these conditions.

 

Neurodevelopmental Disorders

Nicole Coman carries an expertise in providing evaluations and school-based consultations for individuals with an existing diagnosis or presenting concerns related to Autism Spectrum Disorders and other developmental delays. She is Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition (ADOS-2) trained and research reliable, providing gold-standard and focused diagnostic differential evaluations for individuals, across the lifespan, presenting with concerns for ASD.

On a personal note, Nicole is a Miami native who loves food and travel experiences, vacationing with her family, and college football (F-L-O-R-I-D-A...Florida State, Florida State, Florida State!).
